Make-Ahead Turkey & Avocado Burgers

With less than 5 ingredients and UNDER 160 calories, this recipe is ideal for a rest day because you can easily pair it with your favorite veggies or serve it in a lettuce wrap! And if your avocado’s are a little on the firm side, these bad boys will keep in the refrigerator/freezer for several days or longer! 



  • 1 lb. 99/1 Extra Lean Ground Turkey (can swap for ground chicken or 93/7 ground turkey)*
  • 200 grams Avocado (about 2 small Haas avocados, cut into chunks)**
  • 1 large whole egg, lightly beaten
  • 1/4 cup Trader Joes Lite Cheese Blend***
  • Salt and Pepper to taste
  • Optional – favorite burger spices (cumin, paprika, onion powder, garlic)



*If you use a fattier meat like 93/7, then you will likely have to add 1/3 cup breadcrumbs or dampen your meat to help bind the patties.

**I used semi-ripe (more firm) avocados because I like the texture of avocado chunks and the patties will last longer for left-overs. Choose ripe avocados if you like more of a smooth texture and are not going to be leaving any behind!

***Cheese is completely optional! You can use parmesan, swiss or even nutritional yeast to save extra calories!


Optional Toppings:

  • Tomatoes
  • Onions
  • Romaine
  • Baby Spinach
  • Greek Yogurt




  1. Mix all ingredients in a bowl and form your patties! Try to go gently when mixed if you like the avocado chunks! My batch made 6 medium-sized patties.
  2. Coat a medium sauce pan with Olive Oil Spray and turn to medium heat. Or you can cook these on a grill outdoors!
  3. Cook for approximately 5-7 minutes on each side, until meat is cooked through and each side is golden brown (making a nice crust).
  4. Enjoy and store in the refrigerator or freezer for later!

Protein: 22 grams / Carbs: 3 grams / Fat: 7 grams
