Bacon Wrapped Tenders

To my ancestral carnivores….Bacon is back on the menu and you don’t have to feel guilty about it! Try not to demonize fat and keep your mind open to the idea of adding fat into your lifestyle. Not only does it add a satiating element to your meal, but fats tend to burn clean and provide steady energy for the body! Not to mention, research shows that it can actually DECREASE cholesterol, blood pressure and the risk of heart disease! Ok, enough of the facts… let’s get to the food!

This dish has ZERO carbs so please feel free to pair with a light and crisp Romaine salad or your favorite green veggie

Serving Size: 4 oz. chicken & 4 slices bacon
  • Protein - 30 g
  • Fat - 10 g

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. natural chicken tenders
  • 12 slices Nitrate Free & Uncured Bacon or Turkey Bacon - (60 cals per 2 slices)
  • 1 tbsp Primal Kitchen Avocado Oil or Organic Avocado Oil
  • 1 tbsp Smoked Paprika
  • 1 tbsp Garlic Powder
  • 1 tbsp dried Oregano
  • 1 tsp Fresh Ground Pepper
  • Optional Toppings: sliced avocado, stone ground mustard

Cooking Utensils

  • Medium mixing bowl
  • Baking rack
  • Baking sheet
  • Toothpicks - optional

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 450F. 4U Fitness Bacon Wrapped Tenders
  2. Grab your mixing bowl and add the chicken tenders.
  3. Add the avocado oil, paprika, garlic powder, oregano and pepper to the tenders and mix well until all tenders are evenly coated.
  4. Set up your assembly line: Grab one chicken tender, wrap with one slice of bacon (ends facing down) and place on the baking rack. You can also use toothpicks to hold the bacon down. Repeat with all tenders.
  5. Bake for 15-20 minutes. To get the bacon crispy, turn the oven to Broil and cook for another 4-5 minutes!
  6. Remove from the oven and enjoy over a green salad or a giant serving of your favorite veggie!
